• Description The Svitovid (Svyatovit, Zbruchanskyi idol) is a model of the universe as imagined by our ancestors. The upper tier is the celestial sphere of the gods, the middle tier is our world inhabited by people, and the lower tier is the underground, where the souls of deceased ancestors reside. The stone sculpture of the 9th and 10th centuries was discovered in the Zbruch River near Husiatyn, Ternopil region, in 1848. The head of the statue appeared above the surface of the Zbruch waters as a result of a sharp drop in water, which was facilitated by an abnormal drought. The statue is now in the Krakow Archaeological Museum. From the series "Ukrainian Space".
